Iran

Iran, also known as Persia, is a country in Western Asia with a rich history dating back thousands of years. It was once a powerful empire and played a significant role in the development of the ancient world. Persia was conquered by the Arabs in the 7th century and later came under the rule of the Mongols and the Safavids. In the 20th century, Iran experienced a series of political upheavals, including the Islamic Revolution in 1979 which led to the establishment of an Islamic Republic. The country has since been at odds with Western powers, particularly the United States, due to its nuclear program and support for militant groups. Today, Iran is a diverse nation with a mix of traditional and modern influences, with a population that is predominantly Shia Muslim.
