Mandela Co-founds ANC Youth League

In the early 1940s, Nelson Mandela's journey as an activist began to take shape as he moved to Johannesburg. This transition marked a pivotal point in his life, as he became involved with the African National Congress (ANC) and its efforts to combat racial discrimination in South Africa. During this period, Mandela enrolled at the University of the Witwatersrand to pursue a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree. His education at Wits not only provided him with academic knowledge but also exposed him to a diverse range of political ideas and social issues. It was here that he met Walter Sisulu, a prominent member of the ANC, who would become a significant mentor and ally in Mandela's political journey. The formation of the ANC Youth League was a crucial development in the fight against apartheid. Co-founded by Mandela and other young leaders, the Youth League aimed to mobilize the youth of South Africa to take an active role in the struggle for equality and justice. The League sought to address the growing discontent
