Birth of Iconic Leader in Eastern Cape

Nelson Mandela was born in Mvezo, a small village in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. His mother, Nonqaphi Nosekeni, was one of the four wives of Chief Mphakanyiswa Gadla Henry Mandela. This lineage placed him within a prominent family in the Xhosa community, which would later influence his leadership and activism.
