About
Guinea is a country located in West Africa known for its rich cultural heritage and diverse population. It was formerly a part of the Mali Empire and later came under French colonial rule in the late 19th century. Guinea gained independence in 1958 under the leadership of President Ahmed Sékou Touré, who governed the country until his death in 1984. Following Touré's death, a military coup led by Lansana Conté took over the government, and Guinea experienced periods of political instability and authoritarian rule. In 2010, Alpha Condé became the country's first democratically elected president, marking a new chapter in Guinea's political history. The country has faced challenges such as widespread poverty, corruption, and human rights abuses, but it remains a unique and vibrant nation with a strong sense of identity and resilience.
