Spanish Build Fort Santo Domingo

The Spanish Empire established Fort Santo Domingo in the northwest region of Taiwan, specifically in modern-day Tamsui, as part of their broader strategy to counter the Dutch presence in the area. This fortification was constructed following the establishment of a settlement at Santísima Trinidad on the northeast coast, which included the building of Fort San Salvador.
