England secured its second ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title by winning the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022, held in Australia from 16 October to 13 November 2022. The tournament featured 16 teams and was played across multiple Australian cities, culminating in the final at Melbourne.
The final took place on 13 November 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Pakistan national cricket team batted first and were restricted to 137 for 8 in their 20 overs. In response, the England national cricket team chased the target, finishing on 138 for 5 with one over remaining, winning by 5 wickets.
England’s chase was guided by Ben Stokes, who scored an unbeaten 52 off 49 balls, anchoring the innings after early wickets. England’s bowlers played a decisive role earlier in the match, led by Sam Curran, who took 3 wickets for 12 runs and was named Player of the Match. Curran finished the tournament as the leading wicket-taker, with 13 wickets.
With this victory, England became the first men’s team to win the ICC T20 World Cup twice, having previously claimed the title in 2010. The win also meant England held both the ODI World Cup (2019) and T20 World Cup (2022) titles simultaneously at the time of the final.
