In May 2013, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, carried out an official visit to the United States, marking one of his early international tours on behalf of the British Royal Family. The trip took place from 09/05/2013 to 15/05/2013 and included engagements in Washington, D.C., Colorado, New Jersey, Connecticut, and New York. The visit began in Washington, D.C., where Prince Harry attended a reception at the British Ambassador’s residence and visited Arlington National Cemetery to pay tribute to fallen service members. He also met with officials and participated in events recognizing the relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States. In Colorado Springs, he attended the Warrior Games, an adaptive sports competition for wounded, injured, and ill service personnel. His visit to the Games played a role in inspiring the creation of the Invictus Games the following year. The tour continued with a stop in New Jersey, where he visited areas affected by Hurricane Sandy alongside Governor Chris Christie, observing recovery efforts and meeting local residents. Prince Harry also visited Connecticut, where he took part in a charity polo match in Greenwich to raise funds for his charitable foundations. The tour concluded in New York City, where he attended additional engagements promoting charitable work and international cooperation. The May 2013 visit combined military, charitable, and diplomatic elements, reflecting Prince Harry’s role in supporting veterans, engaging with communities, and strengthening ties between the United Kingdom and the United States.
