In Mandalay, a violent crackdown by military and police forces resulted in multiple injuries and fatalities among civilians. The incident involved residents of Maha Aung Myay Township who were protecting government shipyard workers participating in a civil disobedience movement. This movement was a response to the military's attempts to force workers back to their jobs amid ongoing protests against military rule. During the confrontation, authorities employed live ammunition, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to at least two dozen others. The police and military also resorted to physical violence, including beatings, arrests, and the use of water cannons against the civilians. Additionally, they threw various projectiles, such as marbles and stones, to disperse the crowd, further escalating the situation.
