Brunei

Officially known as the Nation of Brunei, the Abode of Peace, is a small country located on the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia. It has a rich history dating back to the 14th century when it was a powerful sultanate and controlled a large part of Borneo. Brunei became a British protectorate in the 19th century and gained independence in 1984. Today, it is known for its vast reserves of oil and natural gas, which have made it one of the wealthiest countries in the world. Brunei is a constitutional sultanate with Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah as the current monarch. The country has a unique blend of Malay culture, Islamic traditions, and modern development, attracting tourists with its pristine rainforests, wildlife, and luxury resorts.
