On 13/04/1992, Arnold Schwarzenegger made his feature length directorial debut with the TNT made for television film Christmas in Connecticut. The movie premiered on the Turner Network Television cable channel as part of its original programming lineup. The project was a remake of the 1945 film of the same name and starred Kris Kristofferson, Dyan Cannon, and Tony Curtis. Schwarzenegger did not appear on screen, serving solely as director for the production. The film follows a television cooking host who must maintain the illusion of her perfect domestic life when a war hero is invited to spend Christmas at her supposed country home. Production for the TNT adaptation focused on a contemporary retelling of the story while maintaining the holiday themed premise. The television premiere on 13/04/1992 marked Schwarzenegger’s first and only feature length directing credit, following earlier experience directing episodes of television and short projects. After the release of Christmas in Connecticut, Schwarzenegger did not direct another feature length film. He continued his career primarily as an actor and later entered public service, becoming Governor of California in 2003. While he occasionally produced and narrated projects, his directing work remained limited to the 1992 TNT film.
