In the context of the conflict in Iraq, British aircraft conducted a significant operation targeting Iraqi ground forces. The Iraqi military had been besieging RAF Habbaniya, but with a substantial portion of their air force incapacitated and under continuous bombardment, they were compelled to withdraw. This strategic retreat opened an opportunity for British forces to engage the remaining Iraqi columns. On the battlefield between Habbaniya and Fallujah, two Iraqi columns were identified in a vulnerable position. Approximately forty British aircraft executed a coordinated attack, resulting in heavy casualties for the Iraqi forces. This operation not only demonstrated the effectiveness of air power in modern warfare but also highlighted the challenges faced by ground troops when exposed to aerial assaults. The impact of this attack was significant, as it contributed to the weakening of Iraqi military capabilities and shifted the momentum in favor of British forces in the region.
