Vladimir Putin met Lyudmila Shkrebneva, his future wife, through a mutual friend during a trip she made to Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) in the early 1980s. At the time, Lyudmila worked as a flight attendant on domestic airlines, and she was visiting the city with a friend. Their meeting happened by chance when one of Putin's friends invited him to the Arkady Raikin Theatre, with tickets already in hand for a performance. As Putin recalls, he and his friend were joined by two young women for the outing, one of whom was Lyudmila. After spending time together at the theatre over the course of the next few days, Putin began to date Lyudmila. Their courtship continued to grow over the months that followed, and Lyudmila soon realized that she had found the person she wanted to be with. "There was something about Vladimir that attracted me," she said, noting that within three or four months, she knew he was the man she wanted to marry. Three years after their initial meeting, Putin proposed to Lyudmila. Reflecting on his decision, Putin admitted that he was comfortable with his bachelor lifestyle, but Lyudmila changed that for him. "I knew that if I did not marry for another two or three years, I would not marry at all," he stated. On July 28, 1983, Vladimir and Lyudmila were married, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. The couple would go on to have two daughters, Maria and Katerina, and Lyudmila played a key role in supporting Putin as his career progressed, from his days in the KGB to his rise as Russia’s leader. The marriage lasted until their divorce was finalized in 2014. #VladimirPutin #LyudmilaShkrebneva #PutinMarriage #MomentsOfLife #MoofLife_Moment
