Virgin Atlantic Launches Mile High Tea Across All Three Cabins

In 2018, we introduced Mile High Tea, bringing a contemporary interpretation of British afternoon tea to our inflight dining service. Developed in partnership with French master pâtissier Eric Lanlard, the new offering was created for passengers travelling in Upper Class, Premium and Economy on daytime flights. The menus featured a selection of savoury and sweet items inspired by traditional afternoon tea, including sandwiches, scones and miniature pastries. Each cabin received a version suited to its service style, allowing us to introduce a recognisable British dining experience across all three travel classes rather than reserving it for premium passengers. The partnership was announced in April 2018, with afternoon tea initially introduced at our London Heathrow Clubhouse before being extended to flights later that year. Lanlard's involvement brought specialist pâtisserie expertise to the development of the menus, while the rollout formed part of our broader work to refresh onboard food and drink.
