Formalizing British Control over Buganda

The Buganda Agreement formalized British control over Buganda, following a series of political and military maneuvers by the British Empire in the region. This agreement followed the British establishment of the Uganda Protectorate in East Africa. Prior to the agreement, Buganda was an independent kingdom, characterized by its complex political structure and powerful central government under a king, known as the Kabaka. The agreement defined the relationship between the British colonial administration and the Buganda Kingdom. It outlined the borders of Buganda, granted the Kabaka significant autonomy within those borders, and established a framework for British influence over Buganda's internal and external affairs.
