The Battle of Magong, also known as the Battle of Penghu, was a pivotal naval engagement between the Zheng Garrison and Qing forces. The conflict unfolded in the bay of Magong, where the Qing navy, commanded by Shi Lang, launched a strategic assault against the Zheng fleet. The Qing forces employed a focused tactic, concentrating their fire on individual enemy ships, which proved effective in systematically dismantling the Zheng naval capabilities. By the conclusion of the battle, all of Zheng's battle ships had been sunk, resulting in significant losses for the Zheng forces, with approximately 12,000 troops perishing in the confrontation. The aftermath of the battle saw the Qing forces capturing the Penghu Islands, marking a crucial step in their consolidation of power in the region.
