Shi Lang's arrival in Taiwan marked a pivotal moment in the region's history. Following orders from the Kangxi Emperor, Shi Lang was appointed as the supreme commander to oversee the invasion of Taiwan after a series of failed attempts due to unfavorable weather conditions. His leadership came after a conflict with Yao Qisheng, who was removed from command, allowing Shi to take charge of the military operations. Upon his arrival, Shi Lang was tasked with supervising the surrender of Zheng Keshuang and other local leaders, which was executed without resistance. This transition was significant as it led to the end of the Ming calendar's use in Taiwan, symbolizing a shift in governance and cultural practices under Qing rule. The surrender also represented the consolidation of Qing power in the region, effectively ending the resistance from the remnants of the Ming loyalists.
