Construction of the Port City Colombo project was launched

The construction of the Port City Colombo project was officially launched on September 17, 2014. This ambitious venture is a land reclamation project situated along the coast of Colombo, Sri Lanka, aimed at creating a new urban hub on the Indian Ocean. Initiated with Chinese investment through China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), the project is expected to play a critical role in Sri Lanka’s economic development, positioning the country as a strategic business and financial hub in South Asia. Port City Colombo covers an area of 269 hectares (660 acres) of reclaimed land, and the development is envisioned as a modern, international city with luxury residences, commercial spaces, hotels, and a financial district.
