On 16/05/2016, Prince Harry, Prince William, and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, officially launched the Heads Together campaign at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London. The initiative brought together a group of leading mental health charities with the aim of improving awareness and encouraging open conversations about mental wellbeing.
The campaign marked the first major joint project undertaken by the three members of the Royal Family. It focused on addressing stigma surrounding mental health and promoting practical ways for individuals to support friends and family members. Key areas of attention included childhood mental health, suicide prevention, and support for veterans, reflecting causes already linked to their existing charitable work.
Heads Together also aimed to provide accessible tools and resources to help people engage in conversations about mental health. By encouraging dialogue and reducing misconceptions, the campaign sought to make discussions about mental wellbeing more common in everyday life. The initiative brought together organizations such as Mind, The Mix, and Heads Together partners working collaboratively under a unified platform.
Prince William later noted that the idea for the campaign originated with Catherine, who identified mental health as a common theme across the causes supported by the three royals. The launch established a coordinated approach to mental health advocacy within their public roles.
