Bhimsen Thapa: First Mukhtiyar

Bhimsen Thapa, a key figure in Nepalese history, ascended to the role of Mukhtiyar, effectively the Prime Minister of Nepal. Before this transition, Nepal was undergoing a phase of consolidation and expansion under King Prithvi Narayan Shah and his descendants. Internal strife and external threats from neighboring British India created a politically charged environment. Thapa's rise to power came after considerable turmoil and court conspiracies.
