New airport opens to replace old terminal for budget airlines at Kuala Lumpur.

The opening of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) marked a pivotal change in Malaysia's air travel industry, as it replaced the previously operational Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT). Positioned to handle the increasing passenger traffic and growing demand within the low-cost carrier market, klia2 was constructed adjacent to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), streamlining connections for passengers and enhancing operational efficiency. The terminal features 68 departure gates, 80 aerobridges, and numerous retail and dining options, creating a comprehensive travel experience for passengers. The implementation of Automated People Mover systems and enhanced security checks was a strategic move to improve passenger flow and safety.
