On 3 June 2009, Paul Kelly set the Guinness World Record for the fastest time to carve a turkey during an event celebrating the 25th anniversary of KellyBronze. At our farm in Essex, Paul carved a turkey in 3 minutes 19.47 seconds, competing head-to-head with local butcher David Harrison.
The record attempt required 14 portions to be carved from a five-kilogram turkey, with each portion weighing at least 150 grams and presented on a separate plate. Paul used the carving method he had developed over years of working with turkeys, removing the breast meat from the bone before slicing it into portions.
It was Paul's second Guinness World Record. The previous year, he had set the record for the fastest time to pluck three turkeys, an achievement televised as part of Gordon Ramsay's Christmas programming. Our company history records the two achievements together as a highlight of 2008 and 2009.
