On 28/08/2020, Gordon Ramsay and his wife Tana Ramsay were officially announced as ambassadors for the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust. The appointment was introduced during a visit by the Ramsay family to the charity’s airbase in Newquay, Cornwall, where they met the duty crew and formally launched their roles. The partnership aimed to help raise awareness and support fundraising efforts for the helicopter emergency medical service, which had experienced financial pressure during the COVID 19 pandemic.
The Cornwall Air Ambulance provides rapid response medical transport across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, carrying out approximately 800 missions each year. As ambassadors, the Ramsays agreed to support campaigns promoting the charity’s lifesaving work and encourage public donations. The service relies heavily on public funding, and the 2020 appointment formed part of a broader initiative to maintain operational capacity during a period of reduced fundraising events.
Gordon Ramsay referenced his family’s connection to the region, noting that Cornwall had been their home for around five years and describing the air ambulance as an important part of the local community. The ambassador roles also placed the Ramsays alongside other supporters of the trust, including broadcasters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, as well as chef Paul Ainsworth. The announcement followed their visit to the Newquay base, where they observed operations and spoke with crew members about emergency response work across the region.
