George S. Patton was born

George Smith Patton Jr. was born on 11/11/1885 in San Gabriel, California. He was the son of George Smith Patton Sr. and Ruth Wilson Patton, and grew up in a family with deep military traditions connected to earlier American conflicts, including the Civil War. His birthplace in San Gabriel, located near Los Angeles, was part of a ranch property where he spent much of his early childhood. Patton’s early years included private tutoring at home, where he developed a strong interest in military history, classical literature, and cavalry traditions.
