George S. Patton was born in November 1885 in San Gabriel, California, to George S. Patton and Ruth Wilson. The Patton family lived at Lake Vineyard, a property built by Benjamin Wilson, on 128 acres in what is now San Marino, California. Patton had a younger sister named Anne, affectionately known as 'Nita'. Despite facing challenges with reading and writing during his early childhood, Patton overcame these difficulties and developed a passion for reading in his adult life. He received home tutoring until the age of eleven, after which he attended Stephen Cutter Clark's Classical School for Boys in Pasadena for six years. This early education laid the foundation for his future as a prominent military leader and strategist, known for his bold tactics and leadership during World War II. Patton's early life experiences, including his struggles and triumphs in education, shaped his character and contributed to his later success in the military.
