In June 1989, we opened a new Conference Centre and Leisure Club at Low Wood following a major phase of development at the hotel. The new facilities expanded Low Wood beyond its established accommodation and dining offer, creating dedicated spaces for conferences, meetings and leisure activities. The Conference Centre gave us purpose-built facilities for the business and events market, while the Leisure Club introduced additional recreational facilities for hotel guests. Simon Berry, who was Marketing Director at the time, played a significant role in developing both additions. English Lakes The conference facilities developed during this period remain part of Low Wood Bay today, with the Lakes Suite able to accommodate a range of meeting and event formats. The June 1989 opening was an important stage in the gradual expansion of Low Wood. The completed extension was formally opened by HRH Prince Edward on 3 March 1990.
