On 3 March 1990, HRH Prince Edward officially opened the newly extended Low Wood Hotel on Windermere. The ceremony followed a substantial period of development at the property, including the construction of a new Conference Centre and Leisure Club, which had opened in June 1989. The new facilities broadened what Low Wood could offer beyond traditional hotel accommodation. The Conference Centre strengthened our ability to host business meetings and events, while the Leisure Club expanded the recreational facilities available to guests. The development built on other additions made during the 1980s, including the establishment of the Low Wood Watersports Centre on the lakeshore. Prince Edward's visit formally marked the completion of this phase of Low Wood's expansion. The additional facilities became an important part of the hotel as it continued to develop through the 1990s and, much later, into today's Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa.
