English Lakes Hotels signed management contract

In April 2003, we announced the addition of Storrs Hall Hotel to the English Lakes portfolio under a 10-year management contract. The agreement was our first external hotel management contract and represented a new approach to expanding the business beyond properties directly owned by English Lakes. The agreement was made with Storrs Hall owner Les Hindle following a major refurbishment of the 25-bedroom hotel. Situated on the shores of Windermere near Bowness, Storrs Hall brought a distinctive historic property into our operation. The main house is Grade II* listed and had operated as a hotel since 1892. At the time, Managing Director Simon Berry indicated that English Lakes would consider further management agreements alongside hotel ownership as the group expanded. Storrs Hall subsequently achieved four-star status while under our management.
