On January 25, 2017, President Donald Trump issued Executive Order 13768, commanding the Secretary of Homeland Security to recruit 10,000 additional immigration officers tasked with identifying and deporting illegal aliens suspected of criminal activities. This order also instructed the Attorney General to implement measures to withhold federal funds from jurisdictions that failed to comply with federal immigration laws.
