In July 2014, we secured a £500,000 finance package from HSBC to support a programme of refurbishment at Blunsdon House Hotel. The funding was provided through HSBC’s Wiltshire Commercial Centre and formed part of the bank’s £600 million fund for small and medium-sized businesses in South West England, including £100 million allocated specifically to Wiltshire businesses.
A major part of the investment was the refurbishment of Christopher’s Carvery, which was scheduled to close in August and be replaced by the new Flame restaurant in September 2014. The work included a new kitchen, furniture and front-of-house decoration. Funding was also being used for improvements to the tennis court, bar and outdoor dining areas and the swimming-pool boiler. Managing director John Clifford said the investment was intended to modernise the hotel's facilities as demand began to recover following the recession.
