In September 1955, Lucky Chemical Co., Ltd. officially began producing and selling toothpaste under the registered trademarks “Lucky Toothpaste” and “Lucky.” This marked an important milestone in the company's expansion into personal hygiene and consumer healthcare products. Founded by Koo In-hwoi in 1947, Lucky Chemical had initially focused on cosmetics, particularly its successful Lucky Cream. Building on its experience in chemical manufacturing and consumer products, the company developed Lucky Toothpaste as a domestically manufactured alternative in South Korea's growing oral hygiene market. The product's commercial launch strengthened the Lucky brand and demonstrated the company's commitment to providing essential everyday products to Korean households. The introduction of Lucky Toothpaste became a significant achievement in LG Group's early industrial history, contributing to the company's transformation from a cosmetics manufacturer into a diversified consumer goods and chemical enterprise. Lucky Toothpaste became one of the company's recognizable products and helped establish the Lucky name as a trusted household brand. Its success supported the continued expansion of Lucky Chemical into other consumer products, including soaps, detergents, and household necessities. The company's personal care and household products operations eventually contributed to the development of LG Household & Health Care, which was established as a separate company in 2001. This milestone reflected Lucky Chemical's growing influence on South Korea's consumer goods industry and helped lay the foundation for the future growth of LG Group.
