LG Electronics Launches Full LED 3D Television in 2010, Expanding Home Entertainment Technology In 2010, South Korean consumer electronics manufacturer LG Electronics introduced its INFINIA LX9500, promoted as the world's first Full LED-backlit 3D television. The model combined three-dimensional viewing with LED-backlit LCD display technology, allowing consumers to watch compatible 3D movies and other content at home. Announced in March 2010 and introduced commercially during the following months, the LX9500 formed part of LG's expansion into the emerging market for 3D home entertainment. Although LG was among the manufacturers introducing new 3D televisions that year, it was not the first company to commercialize 3D television technology. Its specific claim concerned the Full LED-backlit design. The LG INFINIA LX9500 was offered in 47-inch and 55-inch screen sizes, featuring Full HD resolution and LED backlighting positioned behind the LCD panel. Unlike edge-lit LED televisions, its Full LED design distributed light sources across the rear of the screen, supporting more precise control of brightness and contrast. The television also incorporated LG's TruMotion 400Hz technology, designed to improve motion clarity when displaying fast-moving images. Its slim construction and narrow bezel reflected the industry's movement toward thinner, larger television screens.
