In 2014, we supported humanitarian relief efforts in the Philippines following the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan, which struck the country in November 2013. By transporting aid supplies into the Philippines, we contributed to the international response to a disaster that had displaced millions of people, damaged essential infrastructure and left many communities without reliable access to shelter, clean water and healthcare.
The operation drew on our aviation and cargo capabilities to support the movement of humanitarian assistance into the affected country. Transporting relief supplies was an important part of the wider recovery effort, particularly as damage to roads, airports and other infrastructure created considerable logistical challenges for organisations working on the ground.
Our involvement formed part of the international effort to help communities recover from the typhoon. It demonstrated how commercial aviation resources could be used beyond scheduled passenger services to support humanitarian operations during major emergencies.
