In 1989, we launched Freeway, Virgin Atlantic's first frequent flyer programme, introducing a dedicated way to recognise and reward customers who regularly travelled with us. Five years after our inaugural flight, the programme became part of our approach to building lasting relationships with passengers as our international route network continued to expand. Freeway introduced a structured customer loyalty initiative, giving us a way to acknowledge repeat travel and encourage passengers to choose Virgin Atlantic for future journeys. The programme complemented our focus on customer service and the overall travel experience, extending our relationship with passengers beyond individual flights. The programme was subsequently relaunched as Flying Club in 1999, establishing the name that would become associated with Virgin Atlantic's loyalty offering. The original launch of Freeway in 1989 provided the foundation for this development, introducing customer rewards as a distinct part of our airline's services.
