In September 2014, we introduced a new employee uniform collection designed by British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, bringing a refreshed look to our cabin crew, pilots and airport teams. The collection was developed over several years in collaboration with Westwood and her design team, combining the distinctive tailoring associated with her work with the practical requirements of airline uniforms. The women's collection featured a tailored red jacket with a nipped-in waist and a pencil skirt, drawing inspiration from Westwood's signature hourglass silhouette and 1940s couture. The men's uniform included a three-piece suit in burgundy wool, with sharp tailoring and traditional British design influences. The collection retained our established red colour palette while introducing updated cuts, fabrics and accessories for employees working across different roles. Sustainability was also considered during development. Selected garments incorporated polyester yarn made from recycled plastic bottles, reflecting Westwood's environmental interests and our wider Change Is in the Air sustainability programme. Following wearer trials involving Virgin Atlantic employees, the new uniforms were introduced across the airline in September 2014, replacing the previous collection. The collaboration brought together British fashion design and the practical needs of a working airline. It gave our customer-facing teams a consistent new uniform identity while maintaining the recognisable styling associated with Virgin Atlantic.
