In 1990, we introduced defibrillators aboard Virgin Atlantic aircraft, strengthening our ability to respond to serious medical emergencies during flights. The equipment enabled trained crew members to provide potentially lifesaving assistance to passengers experiencing certain types of cardiac arrest, when immediate access to hospital care was not possible. The introduction was an early development in onboard emergency cardiac care, at a time when defibrillators were not yet standard equipment across commercial aviation. By making this technology available during flights, we took a practical step towards improving passenger safety and supporting our cabin crews in responding to critical medical situations.
