The United States Postal Service (USPS) initiated the replacement process for its Long-Life Vehicles (LLVs) due to the aging fleet that was originally manufactured between 1987 and 1994. These vehicles, which were designed for a 24-year lifespan, began to show their limitations as they lacked essential modern features such as air conditioning, airbags, and anti-lock brakes. Additionally, the LLVs were not equipped to handle the increasing volume of e-commerce packages, which has surged in recent years. The need for a more efficient and safer delivery vehicle became apparent as the USPS sought to modernize its fleet to meet contemporary delivery demands and improve operational safety.
