New Processing Center Opened in Gastonia

The opening of a new processing center in Gastonia, North Carolina, marks a strategic move by the Postal Service to enhance its operational efficiency. This facility spans 700,000 square feet and is part of a broader initiative to replace smaller, redundant processing centers across the region. The establishment of this center is expected to streamline mail processing and distribution, ultimately improving service delivery to customers. The Postal Service has been undergoing significant changes to adapt to evolving demands and to stabilize its workforce. Between October 2020 and September 2023, the organization converted 150,000 pre-career workers into full-time employees, reflecting its commitment to workforce stability and operational effectiveness. This new center is anticipated to play a crucial role in supporting these workforce changes and improving overall service capacity.
