15-Oct-1147, Spain: During the Second Crusade, a significant moment occurred in Spain when Alfonso the Emperor, Ramon Berenguer the Saint, and García Ramírez led a successful conquest of the Almoravid port city of Almería. With the aid of the formidable Genoese and Pisan navies, the Christian forces were able to overpower the Almoravids and take control of the city. As a result of the victory, one-third of the city was granted to Genoa, while the remaining portion was given to Castile. This conquest was of great strategic and economic importance, as Almería was a crucial center for trade and maritime activities in the region. The capture of Almería also represented a significant gain for the Christians in their ongoing efforts to reclaim the Iberian Peninsula from Muslim rule. #SecondCrusade #AlfonsotheEmperor #RamonBerenguertheSaint #GarcíaRamírez #Almería #Genoa #Castile
