In 1972, Richard Branson founded Virgin Records, marking a significant milestone in his entrepreneurial journey. Virgin Records was initially created as a way to help fund Branson's mail-order record business, which had been struggling financially. Branson, along with his business partner Nik Powell, set up a recording studio in Oxfordshire and signed their first artist, Mike Oldfield.
