On 01/06/2018, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts began operating as an independent, publicly traded hospitality company following its separation from Wyndham Worldwide Corporation. The transaction divided the former parent company's hotel franchising operations from its vacation ownership and exchange businesses. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey, retained Ramada by Wyndham alongside brands such as Days Inn, Super 8, Howard Johnson, La Quinta, and Wyndham Grand. The company's common stock began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol WH, establishing a separately listed corporate entity focused on hotel franchising and hospitality services.
At the time of the separation, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts operated a global portfolio of approximately 9,000 hotels across more than 80 countries, representing around 790,000 guest rooms. Ramada remained part of this network, continuing to operate through franchised hotels in North America and international markets. The former Wyndham Worldwide's vacation ownership and exchange businesses continued separately under the name Wyndham Destinations. The restructuring established Wyndham Hotels & Resorts as the corporate parent responsible for Ramada's brand management, franchising, and international development.
