NVIDIA and IREN announced a strategic partnership on 07/05/2026 aimed at accelerating the deployment of large scale artificial intelligence infrastructure across IREN’s global data center network. The agreement focuses on building up to 5 gigawatts of NVIDIA DSX aligned AI infrastructure, combining NVIDIA’s accelerated computing systems with IREN’s power capacity, land assets, and data center operations. The companies said future deployments are expected to center on IREN’s Sweetwater campus in Texas, which is planned as a flagship AI factory site.
As part of the arrangement, NVIDIA received a five year right to purchase up to 30 million IREN shares at an exercise price of $70 per share, representing a potential investment valued at approximately $2.1 billion. The partnership also includes collaboration on deploying NVIDIA accelerated compute infrastructure for enterprise customers, AI startups, and cloud computing providers seeking expanded access to AI processing capacity. Reuters reported that the agreement reflects increasing demand for high performance AI data centers as companies race to secure computing resources for generative AI and inference workloads.
IREN separately confirmed a five year AI cloud services contract with NVIDIA valued at approximately $3.4 billion. Under that agreement, IREN will provide managed GPU cloud infrastructure for NVIDIA’s internal AI research and computing workloads using Blackwell based systems deployed at IREN facilities. The company stated the arrangement is expected to contribute around $700 million in annual recurring revenue potential as IREN expands its AI cloud operations.
The announcement marked another step in IREN’s transition from cryptocurrency mining toward AI cloud infrastructure services. Financial publications noted that investors reacted positively to the deal, with IREN shares rising sharply following the announcement. Industry analysts also highlighted the growing importance of power availability, cooling systems, and large scale data center capacity as AI infrastructure projects expand worldwide.
Why This Moment Matters
The NVIDIA and IREN partnership reflected how AI competition in 2026 increasingly depended on access not only to advanced chips, but also to electricity, cooling infrastructure, and large scale data center construction. The agreement also illustrated NVIDIA’s broader strategy of investing directly in infrastructure partners to expand long term AI computing capacity.
