Malaysia officially assumes ASEAN Chairmanship with theme "Inclusivity and Sustainability"

Malaysia has officially assumed the ASEAN Chairmanship, setting the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability” for its term. Taking over leadership of the regional bloc, Malaysia emphasized strengthening ASEAN unity, narrowing development gaps among member states, and ensuring that economic growth benefits all segments of society. The chairmanship agenda focuses on inclusive economic development, digital transformation, climate action, and sustainable growth, while reinforcing ASEAN’s central role in regional and global affairs. Under Malaysia’s leadership, ASEAN is expected to prioritize cooperation on environmental sustainability, green energy transitions, and resilience against climate change, alongside social inclusion and equitable development. Malaysia has also highlighted the importance of dialogue, consensus-building, and peaceful dispute resolution amid regional and global uncertainties.
