In 1966, brothers George and Mike Wills took a leap of faith and bought a small three-car taxi business from local businessman George Little, who was emigrating to Australia. Mike, a mechanic, looked after the vehicles, while George managed the day-to-day operation, taking bookings and driving. The business initially served primarily the wedding and leisure markets. Running tours across Scotland required careful preparation. Long before mobile phones, GPS or digital booking systems, we planned leisure itineraries with guidebooks, a wall map of Scotland and a roller to estimate mileage. Once a chauffeur set off on a tour, there was no practical way for the office to contact them, making accurate planning before each journey essential. Those three cars and the working methods developed around them formed the beginnings of Little’s Chauffeur Drive.
