In 1997, Heather Matthews became a partner in Little’s, six years after joining the family business. Having initially worked in reservations and marketing, Heather had also helped develop business among financial-services clients from London. Little’s records that the success of this work contributed to its growth during the 1990s and influenced her decision to remain with the company permanently. Becoming a partner represented an important stage in the gradual transition of the business from founder George Wills and his wife Morag to the second generation. The succession was deliberately phased: Heather continued developing her experience within the company before becoming Managing Director in 2005 as her parents approached retirement
