In 2013, Kazakhstan took a significant step towards sustainable development by launching its Green Economy Plan. This ambitious initiative aims to transform the country's energy landscape by committing to meet 50 percent of its energy needs from alternative and renewable sources by the year 2050. The Green Economy Plan is not only a response to global environmental challenges but also a strategic move to bolster the national economy. It is projected that the transition to a green economy will increase Kazakhstan's GDP by approximately 3 percent and create around 500,000 new jobs across various sectors. To facilitate this transition, the government has established a pricing framework for energy produced from renewable sources. For instance, the price for energy generated by wind power plants is set at 22.68 tenge (approximately $0.12) per kilowatt-hour, while energy from small hydro-power plants is priced at 16.71 tenge (around $0.09) per kilowatt-hour. These measures are designed to encourage investment in renewable energy and support the development of a sustainable energy market in Kazakhstan, ultimately contributing to the country's long-term economic and environmental goals. #mooflife #mof #MomentOfLife #GreenEconomy #Kazakhstan #RenewableEnergy #SustainableDevelopment #EnergyPolicy
