YouTube was created by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, who had previously worked together at PayPal. The company was initially headquartered in San Mateo, California. The founders registered the domain name youtube.com on 14/02/2005. The first video uploaded to the platform, titled “Me at the zoo,” was posted by Jawed Karim on 23/04/2005. The 19-second clip was filmed at the San Diego Zoo and remains publicly accessible. YouTube’s interface allowed users to embed videos on other websites and share links easily, contributing to its rapid adoption. By late 2005, YouTube was receiving millions of daily video views. In November 2006, the platform was acquired by Google for $1.65 billion in stock. The acquisition integrated YouTube into Google’s expanding portfolio of web services. The founding of YouTube on 14/02/2005 introduced a centralized video-sharing platform that significantly expanded public access to user-generated video content on the internet. #YouTube #InternetHistory #VideoSharing #Google #TechHistory
