On 14/06/2017, Gordon Ramsay set a Guinness World Record for the fastest time to fillet a 10 pound fish during an episode of The F Word. Ramsay completed the challenge in 1 minute and 5 seconds, working on a halibut under the supervision of Guinness World Records officials. The attempt was part of a timed cooking segment in which Ramsay competed against 19 year old YouTube creator Jenna Fabich.
To qualify for the record, Ramsay had to produce at least 15 usable portions from the fish. Each skinless fillet needed to weigh a minimum of 40 grams and contain no traces of backbone. The entire process had to be completed within a two minute time limit. Ramsay successfully filleted the halibut and produced the required number of portions that met the judging standards, securing the record.
Jenna Fabich completed her attempt within the time window but produced only 13 acceptable pieces, resulting in disqualification under the rules. Ramsay’s filleting met all criteria and his time of 1 minute and 5 seconds was confirmed as the new Guinness World Record during the broadcast of the show.
