The Jubilee Oil Field, discovered in 2007 off the coast of Ghana, is a significant find in the global oil industry, containing up to 3 billion barrels (480 million m³) of sweet crude oil. This discovery has positioned Ghana as a notable player in the African oil market, with estimated total petroleum reserves ranging from 5 billion barrels (790 million m³) to 7 billion barrels (1.1 billion m³). This makes Ghana the fifth-largest holder of oil reserves in Africa and places it among the top 21st to 25th globally. Additionally, the country boasts substantial natural gas reserves, estimated at approximately 170 billion cubic meters (6 trillion cubic feet). In response to this wealth of resources, the Ghanaian government has initiated plans to nationalize its petroleum and natural gas reserves, aiming to enhance government revenue and ensure that the benefits of these resources are maximized for the nation. The Jubilee Oil Field not only represents a critical economic asset for Ghana but also highlights the country's potential for growth in the energy sector, attracting both local and international investments.
