On 10 August 2018, we announced the Estie, the first new pen collection following Esterbrook's acquisition by Kenro Industries. The name was short for Esterbrook and was presented at launch as a modern nickname for the brand, with a deliberate reference to the era when fountain pens were central to everyday writing. kenroindustries.com The initial standard-size collection was introduced in Black, Midnight Blue and Tortoise acrylics, with fountain-pen and rollerball versions. An oversized Estie, or Estie OS, was initially offered in Black. The fountain pen used a German-made JoWo No. 6 nib, cartridge/converter filling and a cushion-cap closure designed to help prevent the nib from drying out. kenroindustries.com The new collection also provided a direct connection with vintage Esterbrook pens through the optional MV Nib Adaptor. This specially engineered replacement grip section allowed owners to fit many original Esterbrook nib-and-feed units to a modern Estie. Kenro subsequently described the Estie as its most ambitious launch since reviving Esterbrook, and the collection became a central part of the modern product range.
