In 2007, Cristiano Ronaldo expanded his public profile beyond football by releasing his first major book, Moments, while also becoming the focus of one of the earliest documentaries dedicated to his career. The projects arrived during a period when Ronaldo was rapidly emerging as one of the world’s biggest football stars while playing for Manchester United under manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

in 2007, Moments was presented not as a traditional autobiography but as a reflective collection documenting key stages of Ronaldo’s early life and career. At age 22, Ronaldo explained that he considered himself too young to write a full autobiography. Instead, he described the book as an opportunity for supporters to share in the “fantastic moments” that had shaped his journey from Madeira to global football recognition.
The book combined personal reflections with extensive photography from Ronaldo’s childhood, family life, Sporting CP years, and rise at Manchester United. It explored his upbringing in Funchal, Madeira, where he grew up in modest circumstances before moving to Lisbon at age 12 to join Sporting CP’s academy. Ronaldo discussed the homesickness and emotional challenges he experienced while living away from his family at a young age, a period he later described as one of the most difficult stages of his early development.
Moments also addressed deeply personal topics, including the death of his father, José Dinis Aveiro, in 2005. Ronaldo reflected on the emotional impact of losing his father while his football career was accelerating internationally. The book highlighted the role of his mother, Dolores Aveiro, and siblings in supporting his ambition to become a professional footballer.
A recurring theme throughout the publication was Ronaldo’s insistence that his success resulted from discipline, sacrifice, and intense work rather than natural ability alone. He emphasized the training habits and determination that helped transform him from a talented teenager into one of the Premier League’s most dominant players.
Alongside the release of Moments, Ronaldo also became the subject of early documentary projects that examined his rise to fame during his Manchester United years. These productions focused on his rapid development under Ferguson, his increasing influence in European football, and the growing media attention surrounding his performances and lifestyle.
The year 2007 represented a turning point in Ronaldo’s career. He helped Manchester United win the Premier League title and established himself among the world’s elite players. His performances that season laid the foundation for his historic 2007–08 campaign, during which he would win the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, European Golden Shoe, and eventually the 2008 Ballon d'Or.
The release of Moments also marked one of Ronaldo’s earliest major ventures into publishing and personal branding, helping shape a public image that extended beyond football into media, business, and global celebrity culture.
