Capturing Life during the Pandemic

Catherine, Princess of Wales, initiated the 'Hold Still' photography project to document life during the COVID-19 pandemic. Launched by the National Portrait Gallery, London, in collaboration with the Princess, the aim was to capture a collective portrait of the nation during an unprecedented period. Open to all ages and backgrounds across the UK, the project invited the public to submit images that highlighted the community spirit, hardships, and resilience experienced during the public health crisis. A panel of judges, including the Princess of Wales, selected 100 final images. These photographs were later showcased in a digital exhibition and subsequently displayed across the UK in various communities, ensuring accessibility and widespread engagement.
